This is a translation of the Sylleitourgikon (the choir's book) from the Monastery of Simonopetra.
This English translation, by the renowned liturgist Rev. Dr. Stelyios S. Muksuris, follows mainly the Greek edition of Met. Panteleimon, which is widely used on the Holy Mountain. The translation is also conformed to the text in the Diakonikon and Ieratikon of Cherubim Press, whenever the texts are common.
This is an English translation, by Thomaie Hillaris, of Fr. Makarios' exhaustive and insightful look at the mystagogical dimensions of the Great Lent. This splendid work has already been translated into many other languages; a translation into English is only well deserved and timely.
This work is the combination of three volumes: our Ieratikon according to the Simonopetra Tradition (2nd ed.; 3 vols.; Dayton: Cherubim Press, 2021), Diakonikon according to the Simonopetra Tradition (Dayton: Cherubim Press, 2021), and the forthcoming Sylleitourgikon according to the Simonopetra Tradition. This means that this volume combines the Divine Liturgy parts of the Priest, the Deacon, and the choir. Thus, it presents a complete text of the Divine Liturgies of St. John the Golden-mouth and of St. Basil the Great.
It is meant not only for the faithful who wish to know their main liturgical service better, or to follow it (if such is the practice in their parishes), but also for the non-Orthodox who wish to study this ancient divine worship.
The complex reality of today's Orthodoxy, particularly its presence and growth in lands outside of its old territory, has called for the recovery of as a stand-alone service of making a catechumen and, indeed, many jurisdictions throughout the world have attempted such a recovery. This booklet joins and parallels these efforts in all regards except one: the service proposed here has the character of a churching and it is meant to be served for adults just as well as infants.

This is an expanded version of the fourth explanatory volume of the first edition of our Ieratikon. It has been enlarged with notes on the Diakonikon and a new chapter by Fr. Silviu on Scripture and Liturgy.
