Manuscript Submissions

We accept and welcome submissions of manuscripts for publication, particularly translations of the Fathers of the Church, liturgy, and Church hymnography, as well as original research on Orthodox liturgy, theology, spirituality, and history, but only if the manuscripts are not currently under consideration by any other press and will not be submitted to another press while they are under our review. 

If you would like to publish your work with us, you will find the entire process an easy one. Submissions are accepted electronically at editor@cherubimpress.com, via email attachments. A complete submission includes:

1. Your CV.
2. An abstract of the book (only if it is an original work).
3. Table of contents and sample chapters (or the entire work).
4. The names and contacts of two or three scholars who are familiar with your work (either as a scholar or as a translator, depending on the nature of your submitted work). OR, if the submission is not scholarly, please provide a short explanation of the audience of your work and of the contribution your work is making in its field.

All submissions go through a doubly blind peer review, which ensures the quality of the content. If your submitted work is not prepared for such evaluation, our editors will guide you through the process of preparation. The review may take up to three or four months, depending on the availability and response of the peer reviewers. Once a decision is reached, we will notify you.

Once accepted, we will offer you a contract for your work. The contract explains in detail the rest of the process of production. You will be asked to provide the final manuscript by the mutually agreed date in accordance to the publication guidelines of Cherubim Press, which are explained in the contract. The final submission goes through copy editing (a collaborative work between you and an editor) and then the edited work is typeset. You will be provided with this typeset proof which you will be asked to approve. After your approval, the cover is designed and your book is sent to the printer. This entire production process may take a few months, depending on the condition of the submission. The more closely you adhere to our publication guidelines, the faster the production process will be.
